Finger Food Recipes are versatile and cater for any occasion

Finger Food is essentially the easiest way to serve your guests and can be just as easy as serving (low prep) such as bread, cheese, cold meat, olives, cheese and fruit. At the other end of the scale, they can be as fancy as crab stuffed mushrooms, mini-quiche or delicious homemade sushi rolls. They are also a great way to teach your toddler to feed himself because they are small and easy to hold and these include: cheese rusks, dips and vegetables, (tiny hamburgers, pizza's, homemade pastries) and meatballs.

Whether you are preparing sophisticated recipes, such as canapés or just whipping up some enjoyable party food, there are thousands of different types to cater for that special occasion. Classy, yet simple, finding the right recipe can be a challenge.

Traditional Finger Food Recipes

One of the most popular, traditional finger food is the Canape. Canapes are generally made with a bread base, topped with an assortment of small, savory toppings. The bread is cut out into shapes such as squares, triangles, circles and rectangles and then topped with an assortment of different flavors e.g. cream cheese, salmon and parsley sprigs.

The basic Canape is one of many finger food recipes providing an assortment of many flavours.

Recipe for Canapes

Ingredients:

4 slices of fresh bread - white, brown rye or pumpernickel,

1 tbsp butter,

¼ tsp salt,

2 parsley sprigs, approximately 1 tsp of savory topping to serve on each canapé, such as:

Cheese spreads, tasty or fancy

Salmon, sardines, crayfish, anchovies, prawns, anchovy paste, crab, oysters, caviar, tuna

Ham, ham paste, pate, continental sausage, chicken

Hardboiled and salted or hardboiled and sieved

Vegetables - cooked or pickled

Asparagus tips, carrots, olives, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, gherkins, peppers

Method:

Cut bread using a shaped cutter. Spread each round with butter. Place small amounts of food on each and decorate. Serve and garnish with parsley sprigs. Bon Appetit!

An Excellent Biscuits and Gravy Recipe

My biscuits and gravy recipe is slightly more work than just opening a can of prepared biscuits and pouring some gravy on top, but not much.  And it’s one of the best biscuit and gravy recipes around! It doesn’t take very long to prepare, and it’s well worth the few extra minutes it takes to bake the pumpkin biscuits from scratch.  You can be making the gravy with the easy mix while the biscuits bake, to save time.

3 cups unbleached flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
12 tablespoons shortening
2/3 cup pumpkin, solid packed
1 container (6 oz.) vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon double-strength vanilla extract

(Note: the best baking ingredients I can recommend -- cinnamon, nutmeg, and the exceptional vanilla extract -- are available from the Rawleigh company by mail order.)
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet; set aside. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add shortening and mix flour with your fingers until mixture is well combined and looks mealy. Stir in pumpkin and yogurt, and turn dough onto a well-floured countertop. Knead dough a few times, just to combine and to keep it from being sticky. Roll out to 1/2 inch thick, use a 2-inch biscuit cutter to cut out 15 biscuits (re-roll if necessary). Place biscuits onto cookie sheet in three rows, touching each other. Brush tops of biscuits with vanilla, and sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden top and set. Yield - 15 biscuits.

1 pound pork sausage
1 small onion, diced
2/3 cup Rawleigh Brown Gravy Mix
1 cup skim milk
3 cups boiling water

Brown sausage in a large skillet, and drain excess fat.  Add onion and sauté until onion is translucent.  Prepare gravy mix according to package directions, substituting skim milk for the cold water.  Pour prepared gravy over sausage, and cook until thickened and the liquid is somewhat reduced.  Place 2-3 biscuits onto a plate and pour sausage gravy over the top.  Serves 4-6.

I hope you enjoy my fabulous biscuits and gravy recipe as much as my family does!

which football gloves to get?

I play LB and need help deciding which gloves to get.

Cutters- Best gloves by far in ideal conditions, but get dirty easily losing their grip, and if any water touches them they instantly turn into a slip n slide. Grip lasts for a long time, and protect my hands good, but they never dry out.

Nike- not as good in ideal conditions, but atleast have a little stick in rain or dirt. Grip doesnt last that long, nor do they protect my hands as good, but they dry out fairly easily

And no, wearing gloves does not make you a puss- its alot harder to catch an interception when u got sausage fingers from gettin them caught in someones facemask.

price doesnt matter.

Buy cutters, as a linebacker you really don't need the grip that much, you are only getting a chance at a pick every once and a while. Other then the grip, they are the best gloves out there
