Why is it so hard for a rich man to get into heaven? The Bible tells us that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, which means that, unless you mince the camel, it's just about impossible. Another line in the Bible tells us that a man cannot serve God and Mammon. Mammon refers to wealth, so the line effectively means you can't be rich and righteous at the same time. This is harsh judgment. Yet there are other numerous passages which inform us that wealth is a blessing sent from God. This is the basis on which countless churches have been founded in America, preaching prosperity as the reward God has in store for each and every one of us who remembers to say his prayers. The best example of wealth as a blessing is the entire book of Job. This is all about wealth. Job starts off rich and ends up even richer, thanks to God, but in between he undergoes a huge amount of suffering. What does this mean?
The Bible as a whole seems to suggest that there are two types of wealth. There is the wealth that we grab from our own endeavours, and the wealth that comes to us as a blessing. The wealth we grab, regardless of consequences, should come with a government health warning because it brings with it a host of evil temptations. like the desire to rush out and buy a designer suit that costs more than a family of four needs to live on for a month. Or we start to think we are something special, as though money can turn us into a talented rock star or brilliant footballer. It also has the effect of making fat ugly men think they are good looking and virile and vitally attractive to young, pretty blondes. All this of course is fake. Anything that is fake can't be true, and anything that is untrue is despicable to the Lord. This is the type of wealth that has to be minced before it can get through the eye of a needle and past St Peter at the Pearly Gates.
The second type of wealth is a blessing for righteousness. This type of wealth makes no difference at all to its beneficiary. Whether he has it or not is irrelevant. Job at the end of the book is far richer than he was at the beginning yet by then his happiness is complete even without all the goats. God will not release weatlh as a blessing until he knows it's in safe hands, that the blessed will go out and dig a well in Africa, or build low cost housing for families living below the poverty line. This is the sort of wealth that builds not destroys, is spread around not hoarded, enhances the world and does not embitter it.
Christians should not fear wealth, as long as their heart is in the right place.

Save money anytime you collect your salary or wages. The best way to get capital for your future business is to save money now, a minimum of 10% of your income is recommended. Your savings should be in a savings account or a fixed deposit account as the case may be. You have to resolve never to fall back on these savings for daily needs and expenditure, but see it as a savings meant for your future business. You only draw from it for business purposes, meaning for investment that will yield greater profit and make you more money.
Invest in shares of viable companies. Buying shares is a very powerful means of saving money in such a way that your money will be employed to work for you to make more money for you. Somebody said, “The rich doesn’t work for money but money works for him.” When you invest in viable shares, you are simply making you money to become your slave, working for you to make more money while you sleep and do almost nothing. Real wealth is having money to work for you while you have enough time to actually enjoy the money. Many Chief Executive Officers do have a lot of money but have no time to really enjoy their money. When you invest in shares, your money works for you while you make more money; you have enough time to enjoy it.
Venture into viable business. Salary or wages cannot make you rich; wealth comes from doing business and not from receiving salary. Doing your own business is the beginning of wealth creation. What type of business can you do to make you wealth? Any business that you love; that you are passionate about; that you are gifted in. Wealth is not a product of any particular business; it is a product of a man who is determined to make it. I have seen shoe makers fold up their businesses, as a result of bankruptcy, at the same time, some other shoe makers are making so much wealth that they became colossuses in this world. So it is not the business that brings wealth it is the man behind the business. It is true that the business is important, the man behind it is more important. There is no business under the sun that does not have the potentiality of making you a millionaire. Many are flocking to oil and gas, or telecommunications and some are making it, while some are failing. You are more important than the business; it is not the business that prospers it is the man behind it that makes it prosper.

Is oil wealth trickled down to the ordinary citizens in Saudi Arabia, or is it all State money?
I know the royalty are richer than god, but I'm wondering about whether the oil industry benefits the ordinary people of the oil-producing regions of the middle east, as owners as opposed to employees in whatever capacity. Just curious.
Yes, the Saudis do benefit...but only Saudis, not the foreigners. It is a racist, narrow minded society, go figure.
