How can I stop being crazy and stop negative thoughts ruining my relationships?
I keep letting negative thoughts in and allow them to overcome me and my imagination runs wild. I don't have the power to allow these thoughts to stop dominating me. In rare moments of sanity I realize that these thoughts may not be real. Like for instance, if my best friend tells me that she's met a new friend who is amazing and they have been doing fun things together, my mind tells me she now thinks Im worthless and Im not good enough for anyone. And if a member of my family does not reply to an email, my mind goes into action. I had some wonderful relationships in the past which I have destroyed because of the way my mind works. It always comes to its own conclusions and gives me the worst case scenarios, so then I start pushing these people away rather than be a disappointment. I work myself into such a mental madness that I will actually dream of these worst case scenarios. How can I stop doing this to myself? Please tell me
Simply put: you need to learn to love yourself. Your feeling threatened when your friends tell you they're stepping outside the box and meeting new people shows you're insecure and also have a fear of rejection. You start to push people away without cause because your low self esteem tells you they're eventually going to do it to you, even when there's no reason to believe it's going to happen. Something probably happened in your earlier life which led you to be the type of person who draws these unwarranted conclusions for no apparent reason. You should try to take an accountability of any past situations which might have given you this sort of a viewpoint of the world and try to work past them. Not everyone is going to treat you badly just because 1 person might have in the past. Hope this helps.
