What reptile pets would be good for a pretty humid tropical terrarium(30gallons)?
- A lot of plants (moss, grass, ferns, begonias, etc.)
- Waterfall, stream, pond
- Fogger set to morning time
- Warm small sandy section with heat light(not sure if i should use red or black, i want to use it at night)
30 gallon tropical, humid environment is perfect for 1 to 2 crested geckos. They need the humidity, I live in arizona and have to spray mine 2-3 times a day.
They come from new Caledonia, which is a tropical area. Make sure though, that if you go for them and if you get two, that you do not get two males. Males will fight, a lot, just like most other species, and need to be kept separated. A full grown make and female will breed, as with any species, so your safest bet if you want more than one, is to get 2 females.
Reptile shows are great for getting cheaper pets, but i know that down here, we have 1 a year, so it may not be the most convinent. Try to stay away from chain stores if you can, they dont always have very healthy pets, and generally do not have a very good knowledge base of what your reptile needs.
