Here are some more information for Painting Paper:

Finding a suitable, safe and fun crafty activity for babies can be difficult. In an effort to build a sculpture out of dough it will inevitably end up being eaten and at best you may get a finger imprint. Crayons will be chewed up and spat out. Paint will probably end up everywhere but on the paper. Chalk will be broken into tiny bits.
Jelly painting is cheap, easy, non-toxic and fun for both parents and baby. To get started just make jelly as per instructions on the packet and let it set in a plastic bowl. When you are ready to begin, find an area of flooring in your house that can be easily mopped clean, such as tiles or floor boards (do not attempt this on carpet). Lay out a large sheet of paper and sticky tape the corners to the floor. Dress your baby in as little as possible as the jelly tends to get everywhere.
Put the bowl of jelly next to the paper and scoop out a little onto the paper. Encourage your baby to use the jelly to draw lines and shapes on the paper and to explore the feel of the jelly in the bowl. Let your baby (and yourself) have fun and be creative. It doesn't matter if he/she eats a little bit of the jelly and be prepared to have a bath straight away as it can get very messy. If you want to be even more creative make 2 or 3 different colors of jelly and help your baby mix them together and make pictures with the different colors. Don't forget a camera!!

Starting To Paint In Watercolors
You do not need a big studio to start watercolour painting. Quite the opposite, you can do a small painting while sitting in your favourite chair. You require very little equipment to begin. A few brushes, some tubes of paint, paper, a pot of water, palette and something to rest on and you're away.
You have none of the smell with watercolours that you get with oils. There's no messing around with thinning liquids or white spirit to clean your brushes. Simply dipping the brush in water and wiping it with a cloth is enough to clean it. It is the ideal medium to begin painting with.
I keep all my watercolour painting equipment in a box easel. This shuts up when not in use and is placed neatly away, taking little room. When I want to paint, I simply take it out and open the easel. Within minutes, I'm ready to begin.
It's not expensive to begin watercolour painting. You can get all you need relatively cheaply. It's also the most portable of the painting mediums. You can easily pack all you need into a small bag and go do some outdoor painting. You can even carry wallet-sized palettes in your pocket to capture scenes from everyday life.
It is also a very quick medium to use. Paintings don't take long to dry. You can use a small hair dryer to speed the drying process. Compare this with oils which can take days to dry. There's little mess with watercolours and any spillages can easily be wiped clean. Apart from the practical aspects of starting watercolour painting, there's also the wonderful artistic effects that can be achieved with this medium.
Watercolours offer the painter a whole range of techniques to experiment with; Slight variations of tone are achieved easily, and can create beautiful effects. You will still have to take some time to learn the techniques. Learning how to do washes, an essential skill of the watercolour artist ,should be your first lesson.
You can easily practice this sat at a table. Once you've applied a few washes and studied how adding more water than paint to your brush produces one effect and adding more paint produces another. You will soon begin to appreciate the beauty of this medium. Happy accidents can be very happy with watercolours; and you can achieve beautiful effects when two colours mix on damp paper.
Effects that you can never repeat. If you were thinking of learning to paint then I would strongly recommend you start with watercolours. Perfecting your art is a lifelong process, but learning the basics is quiet simple. You'll be surprised how quickly you can produce wonderful paintings.

Painting with oil on a watercolor paper?
I started drawing a few months ago, I kinda got bored with pencils so I decided to move on to paint. I like how oil colors are vivid and blend well, so I am trying that first. I didn't want to spend money on canvas so I was wondering if it would work out if I used my watercolor paper to use for an oil painting. Watercolor paper is thicker than average drawing paper, so it seemed okay to use. Any experts disagree? I'd rather not spoil paper with oil. Any recommendations for better paper would be helpful.
Paper can soak up the oil in a weird way. You'd really need to add a coat of gesso first... and in that case- it doesn't make sense. Canvas is actually more economical than water color paper- and it'll work better. If you're really worried about cutting costs, you can paint with oils on board or wood or panel as long as you coat it with gesso first. In art school we sometimes painted on cardboard coated with gesso. But probably- since you're trying the medium for the first time- you should use a real canvas. Ready-stretched canvasses are cheap and easy to buy. If you enjoy oil painting, learn to stretch your own on purchased stretcher bars, or learn to make your own. This is more economical than buying prestretched canvas, and you can customize them to your desired size specifications. An added bonus: and you can remove and roll up old paintings and restretch on the same stretcher bars.
If you want to use your watercolor paper for something other than watercolors- you can draw on it, use acrylic paints, tempora paints, ink... but stick to water based media on paper.
