Here are some more information for Painting Flowers:

Van Gogh used flowers in his paintings very frequently, and I included some of his best ones here. Like all good artists he experimented a lot with his flowers, choosing different types of flowers, including roses, irises and, most famously, sunflowers. His sunflowers were used in two series of paintings, both in a vase and also laid down. He continued to use vased flowers with poppies and roses following.
Van Gogh put a lot of attention to the backgrounds behind his subjects and generally chose simple ones for his indoor paintings. He also did a lot of landscape paintings, as is common in Impressionism and Post-impressionism, and flowers were commonly prominent features in these. Naturally placed scenes of flowers were included in the likes of "Irises".
Vincent has become best understood and researched through his series of letters that he wrote right across his life, emotionally and illustratively teaching us about his troubled journey through life. Most notably are his letters to brother Theo which told of his difficulties in selling his art. The letters also regularly discussed his love of nature, and its importance in his life and his paintings. His inspiration in the latter part of his career was nature, and a major part of that were in his selection of flowers. He would choose them based on season, style of the flower appropriate to each painting's message, and of course color. Color was always his major concern, as with all impressionist and post-impressionist artists.
It was towards the end of his short life, particularly during his time in Provence, that his paintings of flowers and plants became more frequent and attained a greater beauty and vividness. Nature helped to give Van Gogh a feeling of beauty and love that he lacked in his own life. He loved the honesty and purity of these outdoor subjects. Flowery meadows, trees in blossom, sunflowers and irises gave Van Gogh the opportunity for experimenting endlessly with color and movement to result in a wealth of vibrant and intensely beautiful paintings.

What Should I Paint?
Alright, so you just invested in an expensive wood easel, but you have no idea what you should paint. Similar to writers’ block, painters also experience a lull here and there when they are completely devoid of creative ideas. Well just because you can’t think of something original or interesting, doesn’t mean you should avoid painting all together. Even painting the most basic scenes can really improve your skill and technique, so the next time you are experiencing painters’ block, try painting one of my suggestions below.
- Fruit. Head to your local grocery store and load up on some bright, luscious fruit. Arrange it beautifully in a bowl, and then have at it. Fruit isn’t the most interesting of subjects, however, taking the time to work through every little curvature and flaw will really help you to improve upon your overall skill.
- Family members. Choose your mom if you can. She’ll love the attention you lavish on her and this will again be a great way to improve upon your dexterity. If you’re still running short on ideas after you’ve completed your mom’s portrait, then move on to your dad or your little brother. It’ll be a great exercise.
- Strangers. If you’re looking to make a quick buck, then painting portraits of strangers is a great way to do it. Most people are incredibly narcissistic and the idea of having a painting of themselves is tremendously appealing. You’ll be able to again work on your technique for your future creative projects, while also fattening up your wallet.
- Landscapes. It doesn’t really matter what location you choose to paint, just make sure that you find it inspiring or at the very least somewhat beautiful. Consider heading to a local lake in your area. It might also be advantageous to focus your painting theme on the particular season. If it’s winter, paint snow covered pine trees, if its spring then paint flowers in bloom.
If you are suffering from a lack of creative flow, don’t despair. It doesn’t really matter what you’re painting, just as long as you are painting. Become proficient in the technical aspects of your talent during these lulls, so you’ll be fully equipped to complete any future masterpieces.

Painting Flowers in little girls bedroom.?
We plan on painting flowers, grass, ladybugs and butterflies among the walls in our 3yr old daughters room and wanted to know what type of paint we could use without buying pint sized paint from like home depot or someplace like that. I do not know if we should use Tempura paint, Acrylic or what. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you.
I think we plan on just free handing it, my mom is really good at drawing so we were going to have her help out, we may use a pencil first and then use paints to go over and fill in. Or does anyone else have a better suggestion?
Use the 2 oz and larger acrylic craft paints-they go farther than you'll realize and I've used them for murals for years. If you have any question about cleaning etc-they are the same as latex and will last but you can get satin acrylic clearcoat and even wipe down the walls with it on a sponge when you are done-or flat if you prefer. If you want to make a quick stencil or pattern to trace, use posterboard and make center of daisy and one petal and you can trace around it and blow them out quickly. Have fun-hide some bugs or butterfilies in a corner or somewhere special for her to find or have a ladybug writing her a note with its "trail" on a leaf-kids love personal surprises.
