Unsure of a Vase origin. Help?
There is a vase that I have that appears to be hand painted. It has oriental paintings along the entire vase and there is a strange symbol on the bottom. It's a red box with symbols I've never seen before in it. The vase is only about a foot tall and 8 inches in width. the symbol on the bottom is only 1in x1in. I haven't been able to compare it to anything I've seen or anything that's on the internet. I would attach some pictures but the symbol won't photograph clearly enough to see what it looks like. Any help is Very appreciated. Thank You!
"oriental paintings" that you give no detail of. "symbols" that you don't describe other than size. Thousands of Chinese and Japanese vases have the red stamp of the maker about that size on the bottom. You are going to have to take it out doors where it is well lighted and take pictures of the symbol with a camera that will fill the frame with a sharp image of the symbol and you are going to have to take nice side view images of the whole thing, plus top, bottom and closeup. Then you are going to have to post to Flickr or photobucket and collect the URL links, as you can not directly attach them here.
Or take it to a shop that knows about oriental art.
