Here are some more information for Nephrite Jade Dragon:

This is a magical animal that has a lion-dog face, a horn, hoofs, little wings and a tail. It is known for its ability not to let negative energy and evil people into the home. It is very kind, and does not harm anyone.
This magical creature loves its owners and is very loyal to them. In China and other Asian countries, you can find stores that sell only this fun and powerful talisman.
This charm is often placed where the source of the negative Sha energy can be, such as in front of cemeteries, sharp corners, towers, and peaks. Indoors, it is placed to face the outdoors. For instance, you can place it on a window or opposite the entrance door. In fact, you can even place it in the center of your home - this depends on the goals that you have for this charm.
Following are tips for placing Pi You indoors according to the goals that you want to achieve: Put it in any room below eye level of the tallest family member, if you want to protect your family from the bad Sha Chi. If you often travel on business, place the charm facing outward to the main (front) door - this will prevent any losses and accidents during the trip, as well as guarantee the success of your trip. The only two places where it should not be placed are the bedroom and bathroom.
According to a legend, Pi Xie has a huge appetite, and the Chinese believe its appetite will attract wealth into a home. One of the best charms for this goal is Pixiu sitting on coins - this will protect your wealth and help to increase it. This charm is very popular among businesspeople.
Pi You is one of a very few mystical beings that are capable of taming the prince Tai Sui (Jupiter) and neutralizing his effects. Pixiu helps people who are experiencing failures or losses due to bad flying stars.
Activation: To boost and maintain the strength of this talisman, you need to ring a bell for it once a week. The easiest way is to simply hang a bell next to it. Alternatively, you can activate is by burning a large candle next to it once a month.
Legend: Pi Xie is the ninth son of the Heavenly Dragon. It has many names and areas of habitat, depending on its purpose: one lives in heaven, the other on earth, and the other in water. Each of them brings good luck and has the same beneficial properties.
Story: The Chinese believe that having a pair of Pi You in a home will bring good luck, happiness and money. Keep in mind that even though some stores sell these figurines by one, feng shui and the classic Chinese tradition advise to use them in a pair. The figurines are traditionally made of jadeite or nephrite, but they can be of any other materials also.

Museum of Natural History in Smithsonian Collection
Some of the world’s most spectacular diamonds and other gems are located in the National Gem Collection in the Museum of Natural History in Smithsonian Collection in Washington, D.C. In the collection are diamonds known to almost everyone, such as the Hope Diamond, as well as other large diamonds and other precious gems and jewelry.
In the National Gem Collection are examples of spectacular minerals and crystals, as well gemstones and jewelry. You can see a beautiful purple quartz amethyst crystal, or the mineral azurite, which is a bright blue copper compound mineral. You can also see a huge green beryl crystal. Beryls are the mineral family that include emeralds, aquamarines, heliodor and morganite. It’s almost as exciting to see the raw crystal as it is to see the finished product when it’s been cut and polished.
Some of the finished pieces in the Smithsonian Collection include the crown Napoleon used for the second Empress, Marie Louise. It originally was made of 700 carats in diamonds and 79 emeralds. The emeralds have been replaced with Persian turquoise cabochons.
You can also see the 182-carat Star of Bombay star sapphire that was given to Mary Pickford by Douglas Fairbanks and a brilliantly colored black opal. Black opals are the most valuable of the opal family of gems.
There are also extraordinary examples of quartz crystals, including a 7,000 faceted clear quartz egg! Part of the Smithsonian’s collection includes pieces of jade and turquoise used in other cultures. This includes a collection of Zuni Indian turquoise jewelry and jade lanterns carved from nephrite for the Chinese emperor Chi’en Lung in 1750. A more modern piece is the Dragon Vase, carved from a rare piece of lavender jade.
But of course, the most dazzling items in the collection are the individual gemstones and jewelry that have been owned by royalty through the centuries.

Regarding the relationship between ancient Chinese and Mayan/ancient Mexican culture?
Are there any books out there, or has any archaelogist or anthropologist considered a link in ancient Chinese culture and the ancient Meso-American culture? I refer not only to racial similarities, but also similar motifs: i.e., the use of jade/nephrite, serpent worship, composite mythological animals, serpent/dragon and winged bird/phoenix, lion and jaguar, step pyramids or ascendancies to deep roofed temples, etc. Also the similarity in bronze artifacts and the similarity of certain religious motifs, namely the anthropomorphic feline animal of prey often pictured head-on and in linear patterns. Has anyone considered a continuous landmass from China to the Americas?
Well unfortunately I cant provide you with sources (its been 15 years since i cracked an anthro book), but as for the continuous land mass thing.
Some Anthropologists believed that many of the cultural similarities brought over came across the land bridge during the Ice age when man migrated across from Asia.
However it is important to note allot of the ideas and concepts you mentioned can be found in various parts of the world generally around the same time (that was the basis for one "aliens came to earth" theory that I found rather humerus).
Look up Thor Heyerdahl, he had some theories on cultural expansion by sea faring people, he did a few expeditions on boats made from materials of the times, like balsa wood or papyrus reeds. You may find his Kon Tiki and this RA II voyages of special interest.
good luck
