I have a friend who is a single mother to a 5 year old boy. She is worrying that her son has no "male model" or a "father figure" to look up to. I read couples of parenting sites to boys in the internet and it does say that a father really has the power to teach his son how to become a man. It also say that sons imitate how the father is.Any help?

I must take issue with the answer given above. In fact the sons of single mothers are statistically more likely to be convicted of crimes of violence against women such as battery and rape. It saddens me that fatherhood is not as valued as it should be in society.
