Is a crucifix considered a lucky charm?
I was at Friday prayer, the Imam told the ummah that lucky charms, beads for good luck, and amulets are shurk (unforgivable sin). He said “people who look for good luck, cures for diseases, prosperity, and cast out demons with those items; the gates of Jannah (heaven) will not be open for that person”. He claimed that the crucifix is a lucky charm. He said if someone wears one, it contradicts with the lucky charms. Can anyone dispute this?
Well I'm not sure what the Muslim beliefs are regarding the crucifix. However, Catholics/Christians do not use the crucifix as a good luck charm. We wear it around our necks or hang it on our walls for two main reasons: first, as a reminder of the sacrifice God made for us and second, because great blessing comes through great sacrifice and, through the crucifix we are reminded that we, too, can bring redemption through our own suffering.
