Crystals and stones are sacred magical tools which help us to enhance rituals and magic. They are gifts of the Goddess and God. Some ways of Earth Magic with crystals and stones are:

Preparing The Circle

We can use the stones to mark our circle instead of using herbs. We begin and end at the North point, laying 7, 9, 21 or 40 quartz crystals around the circle, either inside the cord or in place of it. The points of the quartz crystals are placed facing outwards for a usual spiritual or magical nature, or facing inwards for a protective nature. Candles can be used to mark the four quarters of the magic circle in place of the large stones, but ring each candle with one or more of the following stones:

• North - Moss Agate, Emerald, Jet, Olivine, Salt, Black Tourmaline
• East - Imperial Topaz, Citrine, Mica, Pumice
• South - Amber, Obsidian, Rhodochrosite, Ruby, Lava, Garnet
• West - Aquamarine, Chalcedony, Jade, Lapis Lazuli, Moonstone, Sugilite

An Altar From Stone

The best way to make an altar from stone is to scour the dry river beds and seashores for a selection of smooth stones. You could alternatively buy from a rock shop. Create the altar with 3 large stones, 2 small ones as the base and a longer flat stone on top. Place 1 stone on the left to represent the Goddess. You could choose a stone of the Goddess.

Place a stone to the right to represent the God, a longer club shaped rock or choose a stone of the God.

Place a smaller stone in between the Goddess and God with a red candle to represent the element fire, and the devine energy from the Goddess and God.

Place a flat stone in front for offerings of wine, honey, cakes, flowers, fruit and semi precious stones.

If you can find a small cupped stone, place to the left of the offering stone and fill with water to represent the element.

Place another flat piece of rock to the left of the offering stone and pour some salt on to it to symbolize the element Earth.

You could place another flat stone in front of the offering stone to use as an incense burner.

Use a long quartz crystal as a wand and a flint or obsidan arrowhead for use as the magic knife.

Place any other tools required on the altar.

All Wiccan spells can be performed with this altar.

Stones related to the Moon or Venus, Water and Earth stones should be used. Usually pink, green and blue stones.

Cairns

Throughout the world , people used to build piles of stones to mark a historic event. These cairns had ritual significance. Cairns are places of power. Cairns are connected to the ground and face upwards to the sky to represent the connection between physical and spiritual.

Commonly during outdoor circles, a small cairn of 9 or 11 rocks were fashioned at each point of the Circle of Stones.

Visualize the Power of Stones

Sit in a lonely place where there are lots of stones. Visualize a magical need. Still visualizing, grab a stone. Feel the energy. Place on the ground. Pick up another and visualize the magic need and feel the power of the stone. Place next to the other stone on the ground. Keep visualizing and adding stones to your pile until you feel a vibration from the Earths energy and power within these stones. Place the last rock on top affirming your ritual intent. Place your hands either side of the pile and visualize your energy passing to these stones. Leave your cairn to do its work.

The Mystery Princess Kwan Yin

Instead, she chose the life of modesty and self-sacrificing – she went to live in a convent to become a truly enlightened person (bodhisattva). Her story is very similar to the story of the Prince Siddhartha Gautama – Buddha, and that's why she if often regarded to as the female Buddha. Both, Kwan and Siddhartha Gautama managed to become truly enlightened and compassionate beings; both of them were striving to ease the sufferings of humankind.

The legend says that when Kwan Yin became enlightened and obtained the right to enter Nirvana (Buddhist Heaven), she proceeded to Heaven's gates. She almost entered the gates, when she heard a sad cry made by someone on Earth. Being as compassionate as she was, Kwan returned to Earth to help the suffering person. She never entered Heaven's gate, and remained on Earth to help people. The legend has it that she is still on Earth helping those who suffer, as well as helping anyone become as enlightened as her.

Kwan is the goddess and the embodiment of compassion. Similar to the Western Virgin Mary, she is the Eastern embodiment of a motherly figure. Those who suffer are her children, and they can always count on her for love, compassion, and sympathy. She is also the embodiment of true beauty and grace.

There are ways to increase the aid from Kwan. This can be done by chanting mantras that contain her name, or by placing figurines or images depicting her in your home. This way, whenever you are in trouble or despair, you can call her name or look at her picture, and this kind motherly being will come to the rescue. Her most notable feature is that she protects all, regardless of their social status and any other factors. When her help is needed, she comes to absolutely anyone's rescue.

The origins of Kwan became a target of controversy in 406 A.D., when a Buddhist monk named Kumarajiva translated the Indian Lotus Sutra. In his translation, he refers to Kwan as the female form of Avalokitesvara - the male bodhisattva. However, the figure of the legendary Chinese princess Miao Shan (700 B.C.) - one of the sacred Buddhist saints, secured Kwan's image as a woman.

Kwan Yin is often depicted holding a precious vase with the sacred essence of wisdom and compassion. She is frequently depicted in white robes with a lotus in her hand, which symbolizes purity of spirit. Since she can hear anyone's cry, she is often depicted with symbolic large ears. Her radiant identity is associated with the number 33.
 
In the 9-10th centuries, the statue of this goddess could be found in any Buddhist monastery throughout China. Even now Kwan is the embodiment of a compassionate, wise, beautiful, and graceful deity. It's believed 1/3 of the world still pray to Kwan Yin (Miao Shan) – the ideal of womanhood and infinite mercy.

Images of this Goddess are often used in feng shui.

I know that Yemanja has a teal coloured skin...I think Kwan Yin looks like that too, doesn't anyone find it strange these goddess' all have this pale blue skin...
