Blue bird house plans are a great help to find out what kind of bird house to build to attract a specific kind of birds. I always taught that bird houses were all the same, except for the style that we want them to have. I was wrong. Birds are looking for certain criteria before moving in and make their nest.
I have made several kind of bird houses just by doing them without plans because they are not complicated to make. Then I noticed that no birds were attracted to them. So I did some research and I found out that Western Blue Birds are looking for a deeper cavity to nest in.
The Basic Blue Bird House Design
Basically it has to be an upright rectangular box with a roof on top installed at a 45 degree angle. The hole should be as close to the top as possible to provide bluebirds the deep cavity they are looking for and some protection above the entrance. Installing hinges to secure the roof top instead of nails is a great idea to make the house easier to clean. It is important to remove any debris in the spring from the previous occupants otherwise new ones wont build their nest into it.
When making the floor, round the corners to provide ventilation inside the blue bird house. Be careful not to round them too much to make sure mice and snakes wont have enough space to get in and eat the eggs. Also remember that this is a specie of birds that don't need a perch under the hole. They rather grip themselves to the rough wood and will not nest in a house equipped with a perch.
Material to Use to Build the Bird House
The ideal material to build it is older wood. Do not use wood that has paint, glue or anything that has chemical on it. It must be real, natural wood. Avoid using metal, plastic, glass or treated wood. The very best material is older, rough wood.
The reason why rough wood is better is that it provides a rough surface for the birds to get a good grip to exit the nest. A smooth material may trap them inside the box and endanger their lives. However, make sure there are no spikes or nails sticking out of the walls of the house, inside or outside, to prevent the birds to get injured.
Choosing the Right Location
Once you got a well build blue bird house, then a good emplacement need to be found. Avoid placing the bird house in shady, humid spots. Blue birds like to be in front of open areas with grass and low vegetation. The entrance hole should be oriented to the south east, to keep the wind from coming straight into the front door. It is fine to put it in full sun and to attach it to a large tree, as long as the area in front of it is open.
All these things can be learned a lot faster when using blue bird house plans. It makes this hobby so much more enjoyable. Now that I use plans, finally my houses are occupied! Keep Birds From Flying or Crashing Into Your Windows
There are few sounds as distressing as the sound of a bird crashing into one of your windows. If it happens on a regular basis, you would like to do something to keep it from happening. Lets take a look at a couple of possible ways to reduce the likelihood that this will happen.
One popular misconception is that the birds are attracted to what they see inside the home or office. While this may at times be the case, much more often the attraction is what's outside, and the birds see it reflected in the window. That's why they hit office windows so often, as these are very often heavily tinted, with a highly reflective surface. So the birds simply see the window as an extension of the rest of their world, just more clouds and birds.
Given that reflections on the window draw many birds into flying into the window as they either consider it an extension of the outside, or they see a strange bird in their area, what are some things we can do to minimize the deceptive reflections of the windows?
You can start with some quick and easy solutions. If you have put your bird feeder or birdhouse very close to the window so you can enjoy the view of your birds, you may have simply brought on the problem by attracting too much traffic near your window. Moving the feeder or house away from the window can often solve the problem.
Distracting the birds is another approach. Try putting up webs of yarn or string. Decals on the window or something simple like writing with a bar of soap on the window can work.
Probably the most effective is the commerically available reflective decals. These are quite visible to the birds outside the window, but are mostly transparent and invisible to those inside the building. They come in variety of shapes, like birds of prey and hummingbirds.

What is the meaning of a bird which accidentally flew inside the house?
The bird stayed downstairs and stayed on the computer which I often use and left some poo-poo on the monitor then went upstairs and before it flew outside the window it stared at me.
It dont mean anything other then he accidently got it your house, he was lucky to get himdelf back out with out breaking his neck from flying into walls or the ceiling.
I have seen worse cases when one couple got more then one bird in their house the must have had over 100 come right down their chimney and it took the help of the police and the neighbors to catch the birds to release them, so the couple have to put screen on the top of the chimney to black access of the birds.
