I have found a very old japanese/chinese watercolour dated very old, how do i identify it?
The picture is rectangle long and thin and is of japanese lake with mountain in the background. It has a japanese/chinese symbal in the bottum right corner and on the back in pencil in the very corner it has "a to 7"(we think it says this not 100% sure) and "1/3". the frame and picture are very dated and look atleast 40+ years old. We are not sure what we have found but know old hand painted water colours go for alot. How can we identify what we have found? e.g the symbol?
If the symbol is in red, it is probably the artist's signature. Find a person who can read Chinese.
I have a perfectly lovely 40 year old water color on my desk. It is probably worth twice the price of the frame, no more. Chinese sig and all.
