Here are some more information for Hand Fans:

There is simply no better time of year for love and commitment than the beautiful months of spring. The air is fresh and many beautiful plants are in bloom. When considering a spring wedding, it is important to consider how many different wedding favors may be used and why. The options for great spring favors are endless.
Favors for Outdoor Weddings:
If you are envisioning a beautiful outdoor garden-themed wedding, with your guests sitting in the open air, you may want to consider their comfort. Paper, wood, or silk hand fans not only provide relief from warm air; they look great on reception tables. Some fans are folding, while others are square paddle-fans.
Turn your wedding into a eco-friendly event. Supply bags of tree seed to your guests and you will surely be hailed as "green." These wedding favors are especially useful if your wedding is held before April 22, or Arbor Day. Your wedding will yield the growth of many new trees, and be a wonderful reminder to your guests!
Looking for a unique wedding favor idea? Miniature watering cans function as both place card holders and small vases for a flower or two. Of course, you may fill them with whatever you wish, such as Easter candy or birdseed. To make them even more special and unique, tie a personalized ribbon around them.
Spring Favors for Indoors:
Bring the outdoors to your indoor spring wedding with lucky bamboo plants. These can be purchased already in the vase, and are a great source of greenery. Your guests will appreciate the low-maintenance and beauty of these plants.
Spread a little sweetness around with pastel-colored Jordan almonds. Almonds have long been a tradition in weddings, and can be displayed in many different ways. One great way to use them as both decoration and a wedding favor is to place them in small ceramic dishes shaped like butterflies or flowers.
Though it may not be the best idea of fun for you, use rice or birdseed as a wedding favor. Your guests will definitely enjoy sending you and your spouse away by throwing handfuls of grain as the two of you shield your eyes and mouths! Netted bags are the best way to display rice and birdseed. Tie them with decorative ribbon and you have a great spring wedding favor.
Place card holders are always a classy idea for any wedding, and can work to fit almost any theme. Some spring place card holders are glass grapes, pineapples, chairs, doves, barbecue grills, wine cork, cocktails, starfish, and grand pianos. If you are looking for unusual wedding favor ideas, place card holders are sure to fit your taste.
Mostly popular in the spring are Irish wedding favors. Irish favors are associated with spring mostly because of St. Patrick's Day. Shamrock shot glasses, miniature horseshoes, and Celtic Trinity knot wine goblets are all lucky favors to show your guests your appreciation.

Feather Fans
Feather collectively designed with big leaves and other materials are used for fanning as together these turn out to be unique and useful feather fans. As the development of fans came into existence, the use of such hand fans was developed parallel to them. The history of such hand fans has emerged long time back and during sixteenth and seventeenth century, these were generally used by rich ladies coming from high society backgrounds and you will be amazed to hear that at that time, these fans were regarded as a status symbol. As the nineteenth century began, people started using feather fans as decoration items in their homes.
Small hand fans consist of small feather bundles collectively arranged in a unique fashion. Experts believe that these are the oldest types of Chinese fans. Now a day's beautiful fans are available in stores in attractive colors, shapes and sizes. These hand fans are generally made from magpies, eagles, cranes, peacocks and other birds with large and colorful feathers served as feather fan material. In modern times if we talk about such fans, we are talking of something quiet inimitable and attractive.
Peacock feather fans entered quiet early in the market and these can also be used simple as a beautiful piece of decoration. These fans are still produced in today's times in more or less similar fashion indicating royal symbols.
Dance parties, auspicious wedding events and other lavish parties and functions are the places where not only decorators but guests also make use of such feather fans in order to add that extra sheen to your personality or party. These are perfect for costume and ball parties making it a perfect accessory that matches your style.
The art of making these fans is quite simple which is explained in a step wise procedure below:
• Select large feathers of the color combination you like, however, it works out best if you use ostrich feathers.
• Arrange the feathers in a fan shape on the popsicle stick and play with different colored feathers while arranging it. By placing your thumb just above the bottom of the feathers, run hot glue to it.
• Run a line of glue about 1 inch long on the opposite side of the feather fan that you are making in order to hold the ribbon into place. Wrap the ribbon all the way at the bottom to hold it at the right place.
• Embellishments can be then added at the front side of the fan just to make it look more attractive. You can decorate the way you want by adding some beads or something attractive to it. Add additional glue wherever it's required.
You are now ready with your own hand made stunning feather fan.

DIY hand held fans for my wedding?
I am looking for ideas on the design, etc. on how to make handmade fans for my guests to use during my August wedding.
To Rich C...we ask these questions for ANSWERS...not opinions. Thanks anyway.
You can get fancy paper from a paper supply store and use the Asian Origami form to fold and shape the paper to look like a fan. Or you can use a stiff paper source (like cardboard) from an office supply store to print a nice design and cut it uot in the shape of a fan. The glue or staple a big 'popsicle-type' stick to the middle of it. You can get he sticks at any craft store. This is to make the 'origami' type fans:
This is how to fold money but you can adjust this to use it on nice origami paper:
Start by folding about the width of the white border on one end of the bill.
Keep folding back and forth, with each fold the same width. Consistency really improves overall appearence.
Once you've finished the entire length of the bill, pinch one end and bend it over as shown. This will keep the 'handle' end closed quite nicely.
All that's left is to spread the folds out on one side. Just like ordinary paper fans, the outside edge is all curved over in one direction to give it a little stiffness.

Thomas Conner: Perhaps it's time to change the name again. "Indie rock" lost its meaning some time ago, not only when the bands started signing to the big corporate record labels, but also when they started selling songs to TV commercials and gracing the cover of Rolling Stone. "Alternative rock" was always a terrible label with marketing fingerprints all over it. We need a new name for these ...
