Velvet - The Fabric Of Fall
The history of velvet is somewhat fuzzy, but the first English
reference to it was in 1278, when a king's tailor purchased the
fabric in Paris for the kings bed. More than 700 years later you
don't have to be a king to afford to wear velvet.
You're seeing it everywhere, in every shade. Carefully created
into dazzling jackets, dresses, handbags, boots, pumps and
flats. You will find velvet this fall in an array of rich, deep
colors like navy blue, emerald and red, meant to make a fashion

velvet sandal which is made an absolute must have with the
addition of a teal and black wool flower on the heel. You have
to check this shoe out. Can somebody say perfect for any
upcoming holiday celebration? Shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo
is offering a Victorian inspired velvet pump in a rich wine
color. He also shows a very strappy and sexy black velvet
platform sandal, perfect for evening affairs. You can pair these
sandals with a cropped jacket in teal velvet and black satin
pencil pants, perfect!

How to dye jeans black with Rit fabric dye?
I bought five packs threw them in the washer with my jeans and put it on hot and small load,now i wait.In my past fabric dyeing experiences nothing ever turned black (just grey)so i bought five packs thinking it might work better.Do you have any fabric dyeing tips for jeans?

Are the jeans 100% Cotton? Or are they a polyester cotton blend? Or a spandex cotton blend? Black works best on 100% cotton fabrics. You are correct, you do need more black dye than is usually suggested.
The best method for dyeing is not always the washing machine! It can dilute the dye too much and you can't always let the clothing soak in the dye long enough. The fibers need to react with the dye and if there's too much water, the reaction won't be as strong. So use a large bucket or pail and fill it partly with hot water. Add a couple tablespoons salt to the water. Dissolve the dye in hot water, if it's liquid add the dye to the water in the bucket. If you can find something called "soda Ash" add that to the dye water. It's available in Michael's craft store in the area with tie dye supplies, sometimes labeled "dye fix". Soda ash helps the fiber react with the dye, it "opens up" the fiber. Pre wet the jeans, never place dry fabric in a dye bath, and immerse them in the bucket. Swish them around until they are saturated and let them sit in the dye. Let them sit for several hours, and then take them out and rinse out the excess dye in cold water. They should be nice and black by now. Wash separately a couple times, and always wash in cold water using a detergent made for black fabrics. I often overdye black clothes to freshen up faded blacks and this is the method I use.
