The Google-China relationship has always been a bit rocky. Recently, China finally drew the line and Google had no choice but to comply or to "get out". Because this brought up issues of freedom of speech and, control or information, and compromising with 'the bad guys' people all around the world were angered - with the exception of China. Your average Chinese citizen couldn't have cared less because they don't really use Google. They almost exclusively use Baidu, a Chinese search engine. Those that did take the time and effort to concern themselves with world politics saw Google's insistence not as a helping hand to the poverty-stricken, self-expression deprived third world country the west makes China out to be, but as just another example of the West trying to control China and change their traditional way of life.
Freedom is the life-blood of America. The West in general emphasises individuality and the right to make our own choices. We take the good with the bad and would rather know the hard truth than to live in a euphoric world of lies. From the time we first enter school we learn that our forefathers and heroes are individuals standing up for what they believed in. We read stories like A Brave New World and 1984 that show us the evil of government control and warn us that any step in that direction will lead to the eminent demise of our freedom of thinking. Sound familiar? You would take the red pill too, wouldn't you?
China is not the same. With a history inseparable from Confucianism, children are taught from a young age to listen to their elders. In the same way, all relationships have their place which are the stitches keeping our modern, cultured society from falling to pieces. Sons must listen to fathers, wives to their husbands, employees to employers, and citizens to their government. The government was created to protect its citizens, a responsibility much like that of a father and son. The son, young and naive to the ways of the world doesn't always know what's best for himself. The father wise from years of education and experience sometimes make decisions that the son doesn't fully understand, but the son must believe that the father would only make selfless decisions, always doing what's right.
What does all of this have to do with Google in China? Keeping Google out of China, allowing limited access to sites listed in Google, or even handing over Chinese insurgents is not just limiting the information that comes into China, it's also protecting Chinese citizens from the evils of the outside world. The immense amount of pornography available in just a few clicks is non-existent in China. Ridiculous websites promoting violence, anorexia, and other "unhealthy" content just aren't available. The Chinese government really does want the best for its citizens. It's not a room full of business tycoons rubbing their hands together laughing evilly at how they've tricked an entire country into thinking they're 'the good guys'. They're trying to help 1.3 billion people from 56 different cultures lead safe, happy lives. Sometimes silencing a few individuals is necessary for the good of the whole. If websites started popping up promoting terrorist organizations wanting to attack you and your family, would you want them readily available at your local internet cafe?
Freedom of speech comes with the freedom to spread lies, hate, and destruction of Good. The choice to keep limited access to Google in China should not be seen as inflicting harm upon the citizens but as a protective measure keeping them safe from bad guys trying to poison their minds. We have the conception that internet censorship in China only keeps them blind to the fact that we are so much "freer" here. But it also keeps them protected from all the weirdos, crazies, and uneducated westerners trying to infringe upon their way of life. Perhaps in the future, as China matures into a developed country, full access to information on the internet will be allowed and people will be able to make their own decisions about what are "unhealthy" sites. For now its citizens trust in their government to make the best decisions for the future of their country.

Lhasa Apso Puppy And Dog Information
The Lhasa Apso makes a beautiful family pet. She can live in an apartment as long as she gets walked for exercise. She makes a good watch dog and gets along well with other pets. She likes older, respectful children. She is a faithful family pet. She is generally healthy but does needs quite a bit of grooming.
*Approximate Adult Size. The approximate adult size (two years old or older) of the Lhasa Apso is 10 to 11 inches to the withers (highest point of the shoulder) and 13 to 15 pounds.
*Special Health Considerations. Most dog breeds have certain inherited health problems associated with that specific breed and the Lhasa Apso is no exception. Although considered a healthy breed, be on the lookout for ear infections, bleeding ulcers, kidney problems, allergic reactions to fleas and hip dysplasia. This disease list is an informative guideline only. Other diseases may also be significant threats, please contact your veterinarian for a complete list.
She should visit the veterinarian several times in the first year for shots, boosters and check up. Then, as an adult, she should visit the veterinarian yearly for shots and check up. As she gets older, six years and on, she should visit the veterinarian twice a year for check ups and shots. Remember; avoid feeding your dog sweets.
*Grooming. The Lhasa Apso has a long, straight, hard and very dense coat. She should be brushed daily. Brushing will help her maintain a clean and healthy coat, avoid mats and help you keep a closer eye on her health and strengthen your emotional bond with her. Some people clip the coat to lower grooming time.
Her ears should be checked once a week and be kept clean. If you have her professionally groomed, make sure ear cleaning and inspection is part of the package. No water or excess fluid should get in the dogs ears, and do not try to irrigate the ears. Ear cleaning is too complicated and critical to instruct here. Look for hair growing in the ear canal, excess wax, or moisture. If her ears have a discharge, foul odor or she seems to be in distress and you suspect an infection, or tumor, consult your veterinarian.
Her teeth should be brushed at least twice a week with toothpaste and toothbrush designed for dogs. Brushing removes the accumulation of plaque and tartar which can cause cavities (rarely) and periodontal disease. Dog periodontal disease can lead to pain, loss of teeth, bad breath and other serious disease.
Her toenails may need to be examined for growth and clipped regularly. The toenails of the rear feet grow slower than the toenails of the front feet. Generally a guillotine type trimmer is the best for this chore and competent instructions to accomplish this can be found on the net.
*Life Span. The Lhasa Apso can live between 13 and 14 years with proper nutrition, medical care and excellent living conditions.
*History. The Lhasa Apso comes from Tibet where they were kept by the rich as watch dogs. They were first registered by the American Kennel Association in 1935.
