Where can I buy a quality kaleidoscope for a birthday present?
It's my 11 year old nephew's birthday. I would like to find something he can keep as a keepsake. In the past I have seen antique and collectible kaleidoscopes that are made of brass or silver/pewter and have traditional components like marbles or glass beads inside. I don't want anything funky or bizarre. I want something that is ornate or antique looking. It doesn't have to be antique but it needs to be high enough quality that someday it can become an antique or something he is proud to own. It needs to be enjoyable by an adult or child. Please tell me what stores would carry this sort of thing locally. I live in a major city. I couldn't find any thing of quality on Ebay. And I DON'T want to pay $100. $25 or less would be good.
Some places that carry them here locally are shops that have art work including jewelry made locally usually locale. Wood worker shops also have them and glass maker shops like stained glass type art stores,these are specialty stores one of kind places.
Our locale museum has them as well.
Some jewelry stores and higher end gift and smoke shops. You can try a your Phone book for specialty toy stores and hobby stores also.
You might even be able to get it engraved. So consider a specialty store that carries things that are engraved..like trophies money clips,signs etc..
