Forts in Goa : Goa Tourism
Goa has always been associated with beaches, fun and festivity but true lovers do know that it has a great deal about Forts too. As per the history Forts in Goa were developed by the Portuguese during the ruling period.
The main forts in Goa are:
Aguda Fort in Goa
A spring within the fort provided water supply to the ships that called there, giving it the name "Aguada" (meaning 'water' in Portuguese). It is situated on the northern side and it serves as a harbor base for local shipping. At present this fort is serving as a Central Jail in Goa.
Aguada fort is one of the most well preserved bastions in Goa. It is home to several natural springs, the first source of drinking water available to ships arriving in Goa after the long sea voyage from Lisbon.
Cabo Raj Niwas Or The Cabo Palace in Goa
Cabo Raj Niwas was the official residence of the Governor of Goa. Having a picturesque view of Goa and lying between the Indian ocean in west and Bay of river Mandovi and fort Aguada in the north it is one of the finest features of Goa.
It has a small chapel built at the end of the mansion which is dedicated to the Virgin lady of the cape, Nossa, Senhora do Cabo.
The Cabo Palace is now known as the Raj Bahavan, the official name given to the residence of the Governors of the States in India. It has fine collection of Bohemian chandeliers, silver and Chinese porcelains which makes a visit to this place as mesmerizing as one can feel.
Mormugao Fort in Goa
Marmugao fort is a famous fort in Goa and it is situated near the Marmagoa Harbor, which was built to protect the harbor situated near Vasco da Gama town. It was and important fortress on the western coast. But today only ruins of this one time wonderful fortress stand for the travelers.
Teracol Fort in Goa
Situated in the north of Arambol at the northern most tip of Goa lies the Teracol fort of Goa. Once being a key fort for the Portuguese, it served as a central point to defend Goa from the opposition forces. It now stands as an hotel for the travelers. If not much but one can find a chapel of St. Anthony as views in this fort.
Remains of these forts, serves as a soothing point to refresh ones memories of the Portuguese lifestyle and architecture, and a traveler looking to see Goa in full must visit these forts.

what does Chinadoll mean? doll from China or porcelain doll? the origin or the material?
i never know what it means.
once a lady called me a porcelain doll, is that a compliment or insult? or is she just saying i'm from China since i look chinese?
Porcelain dolls are produced and fired with-out and a shiny glaze which is refereed to a china so the porcelain finish is dull and and lovely more like a human face. The china has a high-gloss glaze finish comes from the early production of dishes from the orient and traded around the world til the rest of the world learned to produce them. So when a doll has the shiny face it is refereed to as a china head or doll. These doll were produced china heads and figures starting in the 1850's in Germany and took the place of the paper mache and wooden toys and dolls.
Her reference meant that your skin color and finish was perfect, and looked like a dolls porcelain finish. porcelain was first produced in Europe for the doll trade. The Oriental dolls were produced in what we call Gofun which is a oyster shell mixture and is so white and fine applied over the wood.China never to my knowledge produced porcelain dolls until World War one and they were made in Japan to replace the German Market production of dolls for America and England. but they never produced china heads.
this is from the big w: Gofun (powdered calcium carbonate that is made from cured oyster , clam or scallop shells) is an important material used in nihonga. ...
It is a complement, many of us have chicken pox marks and other flaws on our faces. Hope this helps be sure to say thank you
