How do I use a Chinese calligraphy set?
I bought one and there are no instructions in it. There is a little black stone, a little pot with a spoon, two brushes and two hard ink pieces in it.

The little black stone should have a pit in the shape of a rectangle that goes in at an angle. One side will be deeper than the other. You place a little pit of water in this pit. Do not allow it to fill this whole pit. You then dip the block of ink into the pit and grind it on the shallow part of the pit. The ink will mix with the water and gravity will bring it into the pit. The longer you grind the ink the darker the ink will get in the pit. Usually a Chinese Calligraphy set will come with 2 black inks and 1 red ink. The bowl and the spoon is for the second color. The brushes you received should be bamboo brushes that have a fabric loop at the end. This is for drying. A bamboo brush should always hang to dry to keep it in shape.
When using the set you should get the bamboo brush damp and then dip it into the ink. The wetter the brush the less ink will be absorbed into it, the lighter the tone.
