Singing bowls is literally mind-blowing as its uses vary. How you use them and for what purpose, show their efficacy. Of course, the most common use of bowls are in healing the body and mind.
They are made of an alloy of metals corresponding to the seven chakras are known to open the blocked energy of the particular chakra and thus cure a disorder. Some practitioners place the photograph of the person who requires healing inside the bowls. When the bowl is struck, the resonance, charges up the photograph. For example, if it is the heart or Anahata chakra that needs healing for effective communication, to remove blocked energy, a copper Singing B is used, in which the photograph of the person who needs healing is placed. How do I properly play my singing bowl for maximum benefit?
I recently bought a huge Tibetan singing bowl from eBay - great price, and the piece is very impressive. I've read a little about these singing bowls- they're supposed to have curative healing powers. How do I play the bowl properly to gain maximum benefit?
The bowl I bought is tuned to 'D' - the sacral chakra., if I'm not mistaken. It sings very easily- I barely have to touch the outside rim with the wooden striker before it starts humming.

well i'm guessing it's pretty huge,I have one that's tuned to A for the third eye and it's significantly smaller. What i do is hold it in my left hand (improvise if your bowl is real big) and strike it, Or you can rub the mallet around the outside edge to get a good humming sound. (I find it easier to use wooden mallets here because i get better sound) What you're ideally looking for is two sounds. A low sound and a high sound. A harmonic. If you have both sounds you know you're doing it right. This harmonic is going to correspond to your sacral chakra. This works because the frequency that the bowl is emitting is matching and 'tuning' your chakra to the bowl. It really does depend on if you have a good quality bowl though.
