Here are some more information for Carved Kwan Yin:

Jewelry, one of the most popular valuables in our mind, is valued by many of us. When I was in high school, mother bought me some jades which were carved into Buddha and Kwan-yin. I didn't know anything about jade until from that time on, when I got to know that jade, like a woman, need to be maintained through her life. So here I am talking about my relative experience on maintaining this kind of product.
The jeweller ever told me that the beauty and luster of a jade largely depended on a person's maintenance. I was also informed that the quality of a piece of jade was in needed of a proper humidity, otherwise it would wither and fade, the value of its existence would not last long neither. So I decided to take one of them with me every day with a line around my neck and so was the other next week. While I am taking a bath, I won't overlook to wash my jades, for a proper humidity could help keep the jades breathing in a better condition. If the air around was always too dry or thirsty, the natural water inside the jade would be evaporated, and the value of keeping the jade would disappear as well.
Secondly, I was told that these jades were always in need of living in a comparatively clean environment. On condition that one person did not want to take his jade with him for a certain time, this product needed to be kept in a clean box where no dust or dirt existed. While washing it, a simple soap was enough and there was no need for other chemical products.
Apart from what has been talked about above, another important point was that one to prevent his jade from being exposed directly to the sun, otherwise the quality of the jade would change.
All in all, these are my personal experience on maintaining a kind of jewelry. Actually I think every kind of jewelry is supposed to be maintained well, for they are the most valuable products in the world. So everyone should accumulate the methods of maintaining jewelry.

Kwan Yin (Guan Yin), a popular character in mammoth ivory carving art
For centuries Eastern cultures have worshipped Kwan Yin as the Compassionate Saviouress of the East. Likened to the great stature of the Virgin Mary in the West, she is the Goddess of Compassion, a motherly figure thought to bestow children on the truly faithful, and to be there for anyone in need of love and sympathy.
All those who needlessly suffer are Kwan Yin's children. She is all-loving, and the perfect embodiment of beauty, grace and enduring compassion.
All over the world, women have always prayed to the Great Mother for the healing of a sick child or to find solace from life's troubles. Always She hears, and Her Presence consoles the grieving, cools the burning brow, relieves the pain. Kwan Yin means "She who hears the cries of sentient beings."
Kwan Yin's appeal is that she responds to the heartfelt needs of ordinary people. She is accessible to anyone, regardless of social status, and will come to the emotional rescue of anyone who calls upon her in a time of crisis. There are many ways to invoke Kwan Yin into one's life. The traditional way is by chanting the mantra OM MANI PADME HUM.
It is further believed that to have a picture or statue of Kwan Yin in one's home brings good luck and protection to the household.
In Her sanctuary, Kwan Yin awaits you. In Her hands she holds the vessel of nectar which She pours on the world's suffering. The wheel of Her mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, revolves infinitely, emanating light in all directions. Take the time to bow before Her and allow your heart to express its sincere wish. Allow Her subtle presence to reach out to you.
