Help with a Buddha statue please?
Not sure where to post this, so I'm going to start here. I picked up a Buddha statue at an estate sale today, about a foot and a half or so tall. Carved wood. Looks like ivory inlaid eyes and teeth (top teeth are gone). He's not in perfect condition, a small crack up his middle and as mentioned, half-toothless, but it's a walking Buddha with a rat on his left arm and... I don't know what all else he's carrying, but if anyone has any information on the typical things Buddha carries around and what they signify, I'd be greatly appreciative... I've never seen a Buddha like this, and I just fell in love with him. I'll post a link to a pic as soon as I get them uploaded.

I think what you have is a good-luck Buddha. He should be holding a ruyi, a ceremonial sword-like object which is suppose to symbolize good luck. In his other arm he is holding rosary beads—I don’t remember why. I would imagine the “rat” on his arm symbolizes the year of the rat. He is sometimes called a Happy Buddha. Normally they are sitting, but you can also find them standing/walking.
It looks like it is made of wood? It is a nice looking carving.
