I would like to have a cameo, agate or shell, carved using a photo. Does anyone know of an artist or jeweler who does this?

I got some shells a few years ago to try making some cameos sort of like this. I recently also got a newer stylus Dremel tool to do small carvings. Your question reminded me of the shells I got. You might check out the website called guru.com. You can submit your possible project there, and possibly find an artist or craftsperson who may be able to complete your project.
I think the typical reddish type of cameo shells are called Cassis Rufa, and when I was researching these types of shells a few years ago, I think there is another shell species that is more difficult to find, but the background color may be more of a chocolate color and if memory serves, these shells might come from off one of the coasts of Africa.
